Kickstand 72 - Are You Feeling It Now, Mr. Krabs?

about

The band traces its origins back to the winter of 2008-2009. Jarek and Jason met while trying to find drummers for their respective bands. Jarek joined Jasons band, in which he played bass for, known as Joey's Pickles to be the drummer. The band also consisted of guitarist Derek and vocalist/guitarist Andy. Joey's Pickles managed to play their teenage-angst influenced pop-punk at least biweekly at local venues until Andy left the band a year later to pursue other endeavors. At that point Joey's Pickles became a 3 piece band with Derek leading on vocals. They changed their songs in an attempt to label themselves a ska band. The band gained little success, only finding shows being booked with Jarek's streetpunk band, and shortly thereafter, fizzled out.

About a year went by and previous vocalist Andy contacted Jarek again in an attempt to renew JP. Already having been in contact with Jason and Derek, the four met at a skatepark in Andover, Minnesota in order to discuss the reunion of the band. Their friendship instantly rekindled as they made their way back to their old practice space to discuss the new direction of the band. The quartet decided to play their songs as they were originally written and ditch the ska sound. The idea was to reflect the same 90's punk rock music they grew up listening to. They determined that Joey's Pickles left as a ska band, so they would rename it to better suit the rejuvenation of the band. After much discussion, they settled on the name Zero.

It was shortly after the formation of Zero that Derek decided to quit the band to tackle other musical interests. Not too long after that, Jarek joined the Army National Guard and left for basic training. The idea was to write as much as they could during Jarek's absence so they could record a full length immediately when he returned. In the winter of 2011-2012, Jarek came home for 2 weeks on leave and Zero tried their hand in the recording studio, producing 3 unreleased tracks that streamed on their Facebook page for 6 months. It was shortly after Jarek went back to training that tensions grew between Andy and the rest of the band and Andy was ultimately kicked out.

A few months went by and Jarek came home from training, determined to keep what remained of the band going. Jason moved to guitar and Jarek to vocals as the two went through a series of drummers and bassists before settling for Roberto on drums and Cynthia on bass. This Zero lineup would play shows once every other month for a year and record their first EP titled "You Got Your Punk in my Peanut Butter", to which they only made 50 copies. Cynthia left the band, so they took in current bassist Brody Martin and re-recorded the YGYPIMPB EP, to which they made 100 copies. Shortly thereafter, Roberto quit to focus on going to school and they adopted BJ Foster on drums.

Zero recorded and released a single titled "Are You Feeling it Now, Mr. Krabs?" in May 2014. The single is in support of their new album, which is to be out summer of 2015. Jarek is currently deployed to the middle east and the rest of the band is working on their parts. As of December 2014, the band decided to change their name from Zero to Kickstand 72 in order to avoid copyright infringement, stand out in the ever-growing music scene on the internet, and have a name that reflects the style of music they play.
