Coming out of the dulness of the Orange County music scene in California, Against The Sun is ready to make waves throughout the world with their unique blend of clean vocals and harsh honest lyrics backed by heavy hard rock instrumentals. Their blend of post-grunge alternative metal and pop punk has already caught the attention of labels such as Rise or Die Records and fans alike. The band got its start when long time singer/songwriter Brad West teamed up with bassist Calvin Kreitner to start refining and performing songs he had been writing for years. They recorded a demo that released in May of 2014, defining Against The Sun’s sound, but it wasn’t until they met guitarist Chris LaBarbera and drummer Tim Creasy that the band began to hit its stride and become more musically tight and artistically developed than ever. Chris and Tim both brought their own skills to the table, Chris coming from a background of pop punk and classic rock and Tim coming from a background of metal and hard rock. The band finds a perfect balance between simplicity and complexity, blending heaviness with melody. “What matters is the emotion the song is trying to convey,” says singer/songwriter Brad West, “every chord, every harmony, every lyric is specifically used to craft a particular emotional experience. That’s what music is all about.” As Against The Sun is constantly perfecting their music and expanding their library, they are excited to record a new single in the next couple of months and to continue playing shows to connect with their fans and give them what they love. “This is all we ever want to do,” says Brad West, “And we’re stoked that its all other people want us to do too.”
